The Top Directors Working Today: Darren Aronofsky

Like Terry Gilliam a generation ago, Aronofsky’s a visionary who’s had great difficulty fitting in with the Studio machinery. After only 3 features, nobody questions his originality, but his level of success is certainly up for debate. Some think he’s too pretentious to produce a masterpiece. I think REQUIEM FOR A DREAM already is one, and producing another only requires a high amount of passion and a low amount of studio interference.
